Miami Biography
The Miami Heat joined the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1988. They are in the Southeast Division. They are also in the Eastern conference.Their official colors are black, deep red, yellowish-orange, and white. The owner of the Heat is Mickey Arison, and the general manager is Pat Riley, which was the head coach of the Heat until 2008, until Erik Spoelstra took over at the age of 37. The Heat has had some ups and downs until their first ever championship in 2006 with stars Dwayne Wade and Shaquille O'neal. In the summer before the 2010-2011 season, the Heat re-signed Dwyane Wade, recieved Toronto star Chris Bosh, and two-time (now three-time) MVP and star LeBron James. They also picked up Mike Miller and Juwan Howard. They are known as the Big Three. In the same season, they went to the finals to face the Dallas Mavericks. The Heat lost in the finals 4-2. That summer, they got Norris Cole in the 2011 Draft, and picked up Shane Battier, who is a three point sharp shooter, and Eddy Curry, a somewhat veteran center. LeBron James won the MVP award for the third time. Now, the Heat have won their second championship in 2012.
